our story

Built for the community

OCCPS is dedicated to improving the lives of children with cerebral palsy through comprehensive support, family empowerment, and community inclusion. We believe every child deserves opportunities to learn, grow, and be valued for their individuality. We work to break down barriers and promote awareness to ensure respect, inclusion, and meaningful opportunities for every child. Join us in advocating for inclusion and celebrating each unique journey.

Our History

Founded Through Shared Strength

At the end of 2019, the Olongapo City Cerebral Palsy Society (OCCPS) began when Mayflor Julian Mirador (late Gaveuriel) and Bernadeth Arce (Avery) met at a doctor’s clinic. They did not know each other at first, but because their children had the same condition, they started talking and eventually became friends. Beryl Zayda Divino, who was a schoolmate who hails from the same area, also asked for help to insert an NGT (nasogastric tube) for her child so that (late Miel) could eat, gain weight, and prepare for PEG. At that time, none of us knew each other, but circumstances brought us together because of our children’s condition, which eventually led to the establishment of OCCPS.

The people behind the mission

Our Advocacy Champions

Glecy del Rosario Garay

President

An advocacy group supporting children with cerebral palsy and their families in the Olongapo community. I dedicated to promoting inclusion, access to therapy, and community support for children with disabilities. Through my leadership, the organization helps connect families with developmental assessments, medical assistance, and advocacy programs.

Emy Rose Paz Bonus

Vice President

A proud mother of four children. My warrior is Alitha Faith B. Sabeniano. I am honored to serve as the Vice President of the Olongapo City Cerebral Palsy Society (OCCPS). I work as a freelancer and a processor, assisting with documents at the Land Transportation Office. In my free time, I do diamond painting and cross-stitch, which also helps as an additional source of income for my family. Life as a parent of a child with special needs is not easy, but it has taught me to be strong, confident, and resourceful—especially in providing for my child’s medical needs.

Our mission is simple:

  • To guide and support parents in prioritizing the medical needs of their children.
  • To find ways to seek help from both government and private sectors for the benefit of every warrior.

Together, we turn challenges into strength and hope into action.
